Safe Sport

What is SafeSport?

The US Figure Skating SkateSafe Program goes hand in hand with Safe Sport. It addresses the following types of misconduct:

  • Sexual misconduct
  • Physical misconduct
  • Emotional misconduct
  • Bullying, threats, harassment
  • Hazing
  • Willfully Tolerating Misconduct

Any adult member of the U.S. Figure Skating or Learn to Skate USA who has regular contact or authority over a minor athlete(s) requires compliance. All WCFSC Coaches and Board Members must be compliant.

The Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 authorizes the U.S. Center for SafeSport to develop training and policies to prevent abuse within the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Movement. The U.S. Center for SafeSport is also charged with developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and training to prevent abuse and misconduct, with independent and official oversight of all National Governing Bodies .

This SkateSafe Handbook is for USFA club wide.
